Procedure for responding to dog bites in Anderson County:

Dog bites should be promptly reported to Anderson County Animal Care and Control. The animal must be located, vaccination status verified, and quarantined for a period of 10 days from the date of the bite.

A bite report is created with the victim’s information. Also included in the report is the animal owner’s information, the animal’s description, location and circumstances surrounding the bite.

The report is filed with the Anderson County Health Department and a copy is maintained by Anderson County Animal Care and Control.

    You may contact the Anderson County Animal Shelter at (865) 264-6315 to schedule Return-To-Owner or Animal-Receiving. The Animal Shelter is open to the public from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday (closed Wednesdays) and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. each Saturday. The facility is also closed each weekday from 12 to 1 p.m. for lunch.
